Part of my mission as a “kingdom helper” is to lead people to Christ. Some people think they must live a perfect life in order to lead others to God, and while yes, we are supposed to follow in the footstep of Jesus Christ, none of us are perfect. The word of God says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..” Verse 24 goes on: “being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…” (NIV).
In other words, we have all at some point done or said something that wasn’t pleasing to God or that disappointed Him. It is through the blood of Jesus that we have been extended grace, justified and forgiven.
With that, if you have not had the opportunity to experience the power of God in your life, I encourage you to receive Jesus Christ as your savior. The word also tells us in Romans 10:9-10, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Congratulations!! Now, as a child of God, there are other things you need to do to develop your relationship with God, and to continue to walk in faith. It has nothing to do with ritualistic ideals, and everything to do with your interaction with your Heavenly Father.
1. Develop a prayer life. Just like any other relationship, it requires communication. You don’t have to be elaborate in speech. Give thanks, praise and worship in addition to your requests. (Philippians 4:6)
2. Get a bible. And be sure to read it. The app on your phone is great and convenient, but make time to sit down and study your bible. It is your sword (See the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18).
3. Get Baptized. Even Jesus got baptized, and he calls us to be baptized too. (Acts 2:41)
4. Find a church home. Getting connected is a very important part of your faith, and will either feed your faith or drain your faith. Make sure you are a part of a ministry that teaches sound doctrine. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
These are some of the basics of your new walk of faith. I pray that you will be encouraged in your walk of faith, and that you will be surrounded with kingdom connections, that will help you to walk in the path that our Lord has ordained for you. Be blessed!
